Five Lady Pirate Women Sign with Four Year Schools

The Independence Community College Women's Basketball team announces that five of their sophomores have signed letters of intent to play basketball with a four year school next year.

 

 

Dakota Corle 

Independence Community College Women's Basketball Sophomore center Dakota Corle has signed with St. Mary's University.

Corle, a 6-foot-4 center from Longton, Kansas, is one of five sophomore Lady Pirates moving onto a four-year program this year.

Corle played in 47 games for the Lady Pirates in 2016-17 and 2017-2018.

Corle was 57.8 percent shooter from the field, and 75.0 percent from the free throw line.

The Lady Pirate center scored a game-high 12 points in her career. Going 6-8 from field goal, and bringing down 5 rebounds against Colby Community College on March 1st, 2018.

St. Mary's University is a NAIA Program located in Leavenworth, Kansas, and plays in the KCAC Conference. Corle will continue her education in Elementary Education.

 

Sena Aktas 

Independence Community College Women's Basketball Sophomore forward Sena Aktas has signed with Bethany College.

Aktas, a 6-foot-0 forward from Mersin, Turkey, is one of five sophomore Lady Pirates moving onto a four-year program this year.

Aktas played in 59 games for the Lady Pirates in 2016-17 and 2017-2018.

Aktas was 47.2 percent shooter from the field, 47.1 percent shooter from 3-point land, and 85.7 percent from the free throw line.

The Lady Pirate forward scored a game-high 18 points in her career. Going 8-13 from field goal, 2-2 from 3-point line against Bethel College November 3rd, 2017.

Bethany College is a NAIA Program located in Lindsborg, Kansas and plays in KCAC Conference. Aktas looks to continue her education in Computer Science.

 

Jordan Schoenberger 

Independence Community College Women's Basketball Sophomore forward Jordan Schoenberger has signed with Missouri Southern State University.

Schoenberger, a 6-foot-2 forward from Chanute, Kansas, is one of five sophomore Lady Pirates moving onto a four-year program this year.

Schoenberger played in 61 games for the Lady Pirates in 2016-17 and 2017-2018. Was selected for the 2018 Region VI Women's Division I All-Tournament Team.

Schoenberger was a 64.3 percent shooter from the field, 71.8 percent from the free throw line, while averaging 6.2 rebounds a game.

The Lady Pirate forward scored a game-high 20 points in her career. Going 8-12 from field goal, 4-5 from free throw line and snagging 9 boards against Cloud Community College March 5th, 2018.

Missouri Southern State University is a NCAA Division II Program located in Joplin, Missouri, and plays in the MIAA Conference. Schoenberger looks to continue her education in Nursing. 

 

Alek Akuen 

Independence Community College Women's Basketball Sophomore forward Alek Akuen has signed with Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville.

Akuen, a 6-foot-3 forward from Adelaide, South Australia, is one of five sophomore Lady Pirates moving onto a four-year program this year.

Akuen played in 63 games for the Lady Pirates in 2016-17 and 2017-18. Akuen was selected All-KJCCC First Team and Division I Second Team All-Region. Along with being selected for the 2018 Region VI Women's Division I All-Tournament Team.

Akuen was 56.2 percent from field goal, 70.4 percent from free throw, and brought down 8.9 rebounds a game, while averaging 11.8 points per game.

The Lady Pirate forward scored a game-high 21 points in her career. Going 10-12 from field goal and bring down 13 rebounds against Coffeyville Community College November 15th, 2017.

Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville is a NCAA Division I Program located in Edwardsville, Illinois and plays in the Ohio Valley Conference. Akuen will continue her education in Early Childhood Education.

 

Erica Moore 

Independence Community College Women's Basketball Sophomore guard Erica Moore has signed with Kennesaw State University.

Moore, a 5-foot-8 guard from Macon, Georgia, is one of five sophomore Lady Pirates moving onto a four-year program this year.

Moore played in 64 games for the Lady Pirates in 2016-17 and 2017-2018. Moore was selected All-KJCCC First Team and Division I Second Team All-Region.

Moore was a 41.6 percent shooter from the field, 40.6 percent from 3-point line. Averaging 3.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists a game.

The Lady Pirate guard scored a game-high 24 points in her career. Going 9-16 from field goal, 5-8 from 3-point line and 1-2 from free throw line against Pratt Community College on January 22nd, 2018.

Kennesaw State is an NCAA Division I Program located in Kennesaw, Georgia, and plays in the Big South Conference.
