INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - The Independence Men’s Basketball team completed another undefeated weekend at the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference Summer Series, finishing 12-0 across the two weekend events.

Friday evening, Indy was able to best Ellsworth, a Division II school out of Iowa 63-52, before knocking off Elgin, a Division II out of Illinois 50-42. 

The Pirates picked up right where they left off on Saturday as they picked up a pair of wins in blowout fashion over a pair of Community Christian Schools, 63-31 and 57-27 in the morning session. 

In the afternoon, Independence picked up another win over Iowa Western, in their toughest matchup of the weekend, hanging on for a 51-48 victory, followed by a 50-38 win over Western Iowa Tech. 

This concludes Indy’s summer ball series, as now individuals from the team will go and compete in different showcases around the country before returning to campus in August, and Coach Steadman will now prepare to be one of the six coaches selected to coach at the JA48 event in July.
