Indy Football welcomes Caden Coulson to coaching staff

INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - Coach Donerson and the Independence Community College Football Program are excited to announce the hiring of Caden Coulson as Offensive Coordinator.

Coulson began his football career as a player at Ellsworth Community College, where he thrived as an offensive lineman, garnering national honors as an NJCAA Honorable Mention.

Following a one year stint at Ellsworth, Coulson transferred to Missouri Southern State, where he was named to the Academic Honor Roll his three years there.

Following his playing career, Coulson jumped right into the coaching world where he assisted coaching Running Backs at Missouri Southern.

In 2023, Coulson made the jump to the Division I ranks, as he accepted a position as assistant offensive line coach at Utah Tech University. In his lone season with the Trailblazers, the offensive line allowed the fewest sacks in the conference.

In 2024, Coulson joined the Northern Arizona staff in the same role as 2023 and picked up right where he left off, playing an integral part in leading the Lumberjacks to an FCS playoff berth. In that season, NAU went undefeated at home and averaged 130 rushing yards per game as they were able to knock off nationally ranked Sacramento State on their way to a five game win streak to close out the year.

In 2025, Coulson joined the Jayhawk Conference as the Offensive Coordinator at Highland Community College where he coached two all-conference players and had a hand in recruiting student-athletes from all over the midwest, such as Kansas, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Missouri and Texas.

Prior to joining the Pirates, Coulson had a very brief stint at Division I Presbyterian College, where in a short time he was able to bring in a 60+ player recruiting class that featured athletes from all over the Southeast.

A native of Dubuque, Iowa, Coulson will bring a passionate and exciting approach to a Pirate offense that ranked among the conference’s best in many passing metrics in 2025.
