INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - Coach Donerson continues to add to his 2026 Football Staff, as he and ICC are pleased to announce the hiring of Payton Green as Special Teams Coordinator and Defensive Backs Coach. 

Green makes the jump to the collegiate ranks in his first season at Indy after seven years of experience at the high school level. During his tenure, Green has had a hand in coaching eight athletes who went on to play Division I Football at the likes of Southern Miss, Louisiana Tech, Nicholls State, Mcneese State, University of Toledo, and Jackson State. 

During Green’s playing career, he walked on Itawamba Community College where he received his Associates Degree, followed by a stint at Southern Miss to pursue a degree in History. Green eventually received his Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from William Carey University and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Physical Education and Health. 

Green is another young, on the rise coach who excels in connecting with players and getting the best out of student-athletes.
