INDEPENDENCE, Kan. - Following a successful freshman campaign, Independence Women's Basketball standout Danaiaya Stillwell-Smith was named an Honorable Mention on the KJCCC All-Conference team.
The Lawton, Oklahoma native shined in her first year in the Jayhawk conference, averaging a near double-double with 11.5 points per game and 8.1 rebounds per game. On the glass is where Stillwell-Smith truly shined, as she pulled down 242 total rebounds and a league leading 113 offensive rebounds.
The 6 '0 Forward finished with a double-double six times in her freshman season, with her most impactful performance coming in a win against Pratt back on January 31st, where she finished with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Stillwell-Smith finished in double figure scoring in 18 of her 30 games, with a season high of 23 points, that she hit twice, on January 17th in a loss to Cloud County, and February 18th in a loss to Seward County.
"We are incredibly proud of Danaiya for earning All-Conference Honorable Mention," said ICC Head Coach Shavonda Price, "It is a testament of her hard work and competitive spirit. We know she is just getting started, and we can't wait to see what she achieves next"
